QuickVac
The “State of the Art” for High Speed Paper Machine Winder Edge Trim Removal Systems is Quickdraft’s QuickVac All Negative Wet Separator Trim Conveying System. This system eliminates most typical problems associated with Paper Machine Winder Edge Trim conveying systems:
- Air Discharge to the Pulper
- Dust
- Housekeeping
- High Noise Levels
- High Horse Power Requirements
- High Maintenance
The QuickVac can be used for one or multiple winders or sheeters. Trims are conveyed in continuous form under a vacuum all the way to the pulper. They do not pass through any moving components. At the QuickVac Separator, the trims are encapsulated by solid spray showers of recirculated stock. The stock forces the trim out of the separator discharge (effluent). The effluent discharge is connected to the pulper under the level of the pulper liquid thereby creating an “air lock” that allows the system to pull material at very high speed and distance from the winders. The system conveying air is “scrubbed” of dust and paper pieces by spray showers of fresh water. The conveying air then discharges from the top of the QuickVac Separator and then finally passes through the QuickVac air handling fan. This fan acts as the motive force for the conveying system. It handles only moist air at relatively low pressure and at a reduced horsepower vs. other types of conveying systems. The fan can be located distant from the pulper or even outside to eliminate the noise source of the system. The discharged air can be returned to the operating areas or even used to add humidity to spaces where that might be needed.
The QuickVac System is provided with a complete alarm / indication panel with provisions for back up water sources for continuous and dependable operation. Several parameters are monitored by our control system including separator pressure, stock flow, stock consistency, fresh water flow, and fan rpm. Modulating valves are used to control stock flow and back up white water flow as necessary to ensure the trim continues to flush into the pulper.
The QuickVac Separator, Effluent, Air Discharge Ducting and Fan Air Stream are all constructed from 316 stainless steel for durability in the corrosive pulper environment.
- Fully Guaranteed for Maximum Trim Specifications – Full capability of the winders can be realized in terms of the trim system.
- Reduction in Horsepower usage – Equates to a savings of tens of thousands of dollars per year in energy cost.
- Built in Dust Control – Spray showers scrub conveying air of dust.
- Elimination of Air in the Pulper – Liquid seal in pulper prevents air from entering pulper.
- Elimination of Housekeeping around pulper and operating area due to Trim System – You will not see any trim pieces blowing out of or around the pulper.
- Includes Full Control System – Control system has back up water supply for system reliability.
- Low Noise Level Air Handling Fan – Fan is highly efficient, low RPM.
- Low Maintenance Air Handling Fan – Only air travels through the fan so maintenance requirements are minimized.
- Maximum flexibility in placement of the Air Handling Fan – Can be located outside or in another area.
- Re-use of discharge air – Manifold can be added to recirculate system discharge air in operating areas, resulting in reduces heating in cold winter months.
- Eliminates need for Pulper Exhaust System – No air discharge to pulper.
- Reduced Installation Cost vs. Conventional Systems – Only one air handling fan and one air separator will be required vs. multiple separate blowers for multiple winders.
- Reduced Electrical Controls – There is only one motor in this system vs. multiple motors and starters for a multiple winder conventional system. Also eliminated are the associated wiring and power drops for the multiple motors.
